  6.       To install your CD-ROM drive for use with MS-DOS, you need:
  7.  
  8.       * An  IBM personal computer  or  compatible  with 80386  or  later
  9.         processor chip and a minimum of 640K of conventional memory.
  10.       * A CD-ROM drive (included).
  11.       * CD-ROM installation disk (included).
  12.       * MS-DOS Version 3.1 or later.
  13.       * Microsoft MS-DOS CD-ROM Extensions(MSCDEX.EXE).
  14.  
  15.       Note: Microsoft MS-DOS CD-ROM Extensions(MSCDEX.EXE)  enables  the
  16.             computer to access the CD-ROM drive.   MSCDEX.EXE must exist
  17.             in your system in advance.

  20.                   |   WHAT'S ON THE INSTALLATION DISK?     |
  21.                   ------------------------------------------

  23.       The installation disk contains  all the software needed to install
  24.       and  operate  the  CD-ROM.  A  list  of  the  files  and  a  brief
  25.       description of each follows:
  26.  
  27.       MTMCDAI.SYS     CD-ROM device driver.
  28.       SETUPD.EXE      CD-ROM installation program which tells the CD-ROM
  29.                       driver how you want it organized.
  30.       READMEA.ENG     Text file is written by English. (This text file.)
  31.       READMEA.GER     Text file is written by German.
  32.       READMEA.FRE     Text file is written by French.
  33.       READMEA.SPA     Text file is written by Spanish.
  34.       READMEA.ITA     Text file is written by Italian.
  35.       READMEA.JPN     Text file is written by Japanese.

  38.                 |     CD-ROM DEVICE DRIVER INSTALLATION      |

  41.       Certain software programs  must be loaded in order to access a CD-
  42.       ROM disc  in your CD-ROM drive  as  if it were an MS-DOS formatted
  43.       disk. The CD-ROM software files must be properly installed in your
  44.       computer before the CD-ROM drive can read a CD-ROM disc.
  45.  
  46.       The procedure for installation is as follow:
  47.  
  48.       1. Insert the supplied installation disk into drive A (or B).
  49.  
  50.       2. Type A: (or B:) and press ENTER to select drive A (or B).
  51.  
  52.       3. At the DOS prompt A:\ (or B:\), type SETUPD and press ENTER.
  53.          (Run the program SETUPD.EXE on the disk.)
  54.  
  55.       4. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  56.  
  57.       5. Reboot your system when it completes successfully.

  60.                        |   DEVICE DRIVER PARAMETERS   |

  63.       The MTMCDAI.SYS file is device driver that can be installed in the
  64.       directory of your choice. The CONFIG.SYS file specifies this file,
  65.       thereby allowing your computer to identify  and operate the CD-ROM
  66.       drive. This device driver can support up to 8 drives.
  67.  
  68.       Most computers will function adequately  with most of the  default
  69.       settings for this file.   However,  there are some parameters that
  70.       can be changed, if necessary.  This section explains  the function
  71.       of each parameter. Use a text editor, such as MS-DOS "EDLIN",  or
  72.       "EDIT" to modify the appropriate line in your CONFIG.SYS file.

  74.       For the MTMCDAI.SYS device driver,  the line  in CONFIG.SYS is  in
  75.       the following format.
  76.  
  77.               DEVICE=[drive:][path]MTMCDAI.SYS
  78.               /D:device-name [/P:xxx,yy] [/A:n] [/U:n] [/L:xx]
  79.  
  80.       Note: The actual device driver entry is not  truncated  and should
  81.             be placed entirely on one line in the CONFIG.SYS file.

  83.       [drive:][path]MTMCDAI.SYS
  84.           Specifies  the location (drive and directory) and  name of the
  85.           device driver file.
  86.  
  87.       /D:device-name
  88.           Specifies  the device name  of  the CD-ROM drive (8 characters
  89.           maximum).  This must be identical to the device name specified
  90.           in the MSCDEX.EXE parameters. For example:
  91.  
  92.               DEVICE=C:\MTM\MTMCDAI.SYS /D:MTMIDE01
  93.  
  94.       [/P:xxx,yy]
  95.           Specifies the IDE port that is connected to the drive, and the
  96.           interrupt request.
  97.  
  98.           'xxx' should be the base address of IDE port.
  99.                 xxx = 1f0 : Primary(Channel 1)
  100.                       170 : Secondary(Channel 2)
  101.                       1e8 : Channel 3
  102.                       168 : Channel 4
  103.           'yy' should be the interrupt channel.
  104.                 yy =  14       : Primary(Channel 1)
  105.                       15 or 10 : Secondary(Channel 2)
  106.                       12 or 11 : Channel 3
  107.                       10 or  9 : Channel 4

  109.           Only  when the CD-ROM drives are connected to the primary port
  110.           using  interrupt channel 14  and/or  the secondary port  using
  111.           interrupt  channel 15  is  it  unnecessary  to  specify  a  /P
  112.           parameter.

  114.           For example,  when eight drives has been connected, the syntax
  115.           in the CONFIG.SYS file should be as follows:

  117.               DEVICE=C:\MTM\MTMCDAI.SYS
  118.               /D:MTMIDE01 /P:1f0,14 /P:170,15 /P:1e8,12 /P:168,10

  120.           Note: The actual  device driver  entry  is  not truncated  and
  121.                 should be placed entirely  on one line in the CONFIG.SYS

  124.       [/A:n]
  125.           Specifies the audio play mode.   For a stereo CD, /A:0 or /A:1
  126.           is acceptable. For a monaural CD (left or right channel only),
  127.           /A:1 will play  the monaural audio signal  from both the right
  128.           and the left channels. Default is n=0.
  129.  
  130.       [/U:n]
  131.           Specifies the door lock or unlock.  /U:0 is 'unlock'.  /U:1 is
  132.           'lock'. Default is n=0.
  133.  
  134.       [/L:xx]
  135.           Specifies  the  message language.   Applicable language is  as
  136.           follows:
  137.  
  138.               'xx' = US : English (This is default.)
  139.                      GR : German
  140.                      FR : French
  141.                      SP : Spanish
  142.                      IT : Italian
  143.                      JP : Japanese
  144.  
  145.           If you want English,  you do not have to specify.  If you want
  146.           the other language,  the syntax in the CONFIG.SYS file  should
  147.           be as follows:

  149.               DEVICE=C:\MTM\MTMCDAI.SYS /D:MTMIDE01 /L:JP

  153.                 |          REGARDING SMARTDRV             |

  156.       SMARTDRV attached to MS-DOS 6.2 (PC-DOS 6.3) or later  is supposed
  157.       to CD-ROM caching.  If CD-ROM caching is enabled,  it is  possible
  158.       that CD-ROM does not work properly.(such as Photo CD)
  159.       In this case,  you should add  the following  /U switch to disable
  160.       CD-ROM caching.
